Nailcare, Thickened Nails & Discoloured Nails
General nail care can be as simple as cutting your toenails, but also you may have thickened or discoloured nails and the podiatrist can advise you why this has happened and the treatment they can provide.
Nails can thicken and discolour for many reasons including:
- Age
- Trauma
- Fungal Infection
The first time you come to see us for your appointment, our podiatrists will carry out a full assessment of your feet. This will include a review of your medical history, medication and any previous treatment. This helps us to understand the full picture.
Your appointment will include looking at your footwear, circulation, skin condition as well as treating the problem you have attended for. During this appointment the podiatrist will use appropriate instruments to complete your treatment in a safe and effective way.
Within your appointment we will have a discussion about your individual needs and help develop an appropriate treatment plan for you. We will be able to advise you on any helpful prevention strategies, as well as give you footwear advice if appropriate to keep your feet in optimal condition.
Everyone who attends our clinic as specific needs, you will be assessed on an individual basis and the podiatrist or foot health practitioner will discuss your options depending on your requirements.
You do not need to be in pain to book an appointment with our podiatrist. If you would like a review of your feet, we are more than happy to help and do a full assessment to look for any potential problems, and advise you on how to maintain your feet in the best way possible.
