Swift Verrucae Treatment
Swift is a new technology, developed in the UK, which has been licensed for the general treatment of skin lesions in Podiatry and Dermatology.
Swift uses microwave energy which is delivered through a special probe applied to the skin to treat the affected tissue. Clinical studies show that verrucae resolve themselves after 3 treatments, with a success rate of 93%.
Treatment Process
In the first week, 3 to 5 very short Swift treatments will be applied, which quickly raise the temperature within the skin without breaking the surface - meaning no blisters, no padding and no scarring. It is not uncommon for patients to feel a sharp sensation during treatment, but any pain felt during treatment quickly subsides.
Your 2nd and 3rd treatments will follow at week 4 and week 8.
After your third treatment, there will be a gap of 12 weeks for the body to heal and cycle through the immune response. You should feel no pain from the verrucae, and you will see normal skin returning where the verrucae was.
What Can I Do After Treatment?
In some cases the treated area may feel sore, but will not usually prevent you undertaking normal daily activities.
Does It Hurt?
It is not uncommon for patients to feel a sharp sensation, similar to an injection. Unlike most treatments for verrucae, pain felt during the treatment quickly subsides, and only in rare cases is there any prolonged pain.
Other Treatment Options
There are a number of other treatment options available for warts and verrucae. Your Podiatrist will carry out an assessment and discuss all the treatment options we offer for verrucae, the benefits and drawbacks of each, and will provide a recommendation based on your individual circumstances.
