What qualifications should I look for in my Podiatrist?
Podiatry and Chiropody are now protected titles in the UK. As such all people using these titles have to register with the Health Professions Council, the government body that regulates all the allied health professions (podiatry, physiotherapy, radiography etc). You can go on the HPC website and check your health professional is registered.
In addition to this we recommend you only see podiatrists who have completed a three-year full time course (designated with the letters BSc Pod or DPodM). This is now compulsory for new entrants on the HPC register. If in doubt please ask your podiatrist – we enjoy talking about our training and our job!
